Marco Simoncelli 1987 – 2011

Today was the Malaysian GP, the penultimate race of the MotoGP 2011 season which was held at the Sepang International Circuit.

On the second lap, the race was red flagged and cancelled due to a crash involving Marco Simoncelli, Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi.

Marco Simoncelli sadly succumbed to his injuries and died.

A tragic loss. Such a rising young star with a great attitude, a great personality and a potential future MotoGP Champion.

This is how I shall remember the Marco, gaining his first podium at Brno earlier in the season:

Casey Stoner Taking a Corner at 1000 Frames per Second

MotoGP rider Casey Stoner has been caught on a rather special video – taking a corner.

It’s a relatively ordinary corner, but what makes this video unique is the fact that it was recorded at one thousand frames per second. That’s a lot of frames.

Red Bull are running a series called “RED BULL MOMENTS – 1000 fps” and in this video Casey Stoner breaks down the technique needed to race a MotoGP bike, including taking a high-speed corner at a laws-of-physics-defying lean angle.

Pretty mad, eh?
